Over the last few weeks, the Manta Network community has been buzzing with activities and challenges, all leading to this very moment. These activities were designed not only to engage the Manta community but also to offer them an early chance to claim their unique .manta domain names. We’re now poised to reveal how you can be a part of this exciting pre-registration process.

Why .manta Domains?

Our initiative, MANTA ID, is to spearhead the creation of the .manta domain service by utilizing the robust SPACE ID 3.0 infrastructure. This innovative and decentralized naming system is set to become an integral aspect of the Manta Pacific ecosystem. The .manta domains will soon be available for everyone, allowing for seamless integration across wallets, websites, and decentralized applications (dApps) that are part of the Manta Pacific ecosystem.

Who’s Eligible for Pre-registration?

Serving the Manta community has always been our no.1 priority. Those who’ve actively participated in the quests and campaigns that we’ve hosted in the past with our ecosystem partners will find themselves on the pre-registration whitelist.

Every Manta Domain Allowlist Ticket NFT you’ve minted, or minted through our partners, counts towards your ability to secure a .manta domain during this phase. Remember, the more you engage, the more domains you can claim — up to a maximum of seven per participant.

Joining the Pre-registration Event

The pre-registration for MANTA domains is a two-step process: an auction phase followed by a first-come-first-serve (FCFS) registration.

Pre-registration

Auction Phase: Dec 22nd 2023, 12 PM UTC — Dec 26 2023, 12 PM UTC

FCFS Phase: Dec 27 2023, 2 PM UTC — Jan 1st 2024, 2 PM UTC

Public-registration: Jan 1st 2024, 3 PM UTC

Auction Phase Highlights

• A five-day auction open only to whitelisted members
• Bidding on new and existing domain names
• Minimum bids set at 105% above the previous bid
• Options for continuing bids or instant refunds if outbid
• Winning bids leading to rights for domain registration
• In the last 10 minutes of the auction, every new bid made will reset the remaining auction time to 10 minutes
• All bids are final and cannot be reversed or cancel

If others outbid you on any .manta name, you can choose to continue bidding on that name (which won’t consume any Bid Quota), or get refunded right away. If you choose to get refunded, the action of having bid on this name still has reduced your Bid Quota, and you cannot recover this quota to bid on another .manta name.

FCFS Registration Phase

Following the auction, we move to the FCFS phase. Here, auction winners can secure their domains, and others can claim the remaining domains based on their quota.

Quotas not utilized during the auction phase will be available for use in the first-come first-served phase.

Exclusive .manta Domain Names

Certain .manta domains are reserved exclusively for our ecosystem partners and projects. These special domains are crucial in our ecosystem and won’t be open for public registration.

Domain Name Pricing

Discounts are offered as perks during the pre-registration stage for early users. The discount applies to multiple years.

• The starting bid price for 3/4/5+ character names is $180/$40/$5 worth in USDC, which is the discounted 1-year registration price.
• 3 characters $300/year, after a 40% discount to $180/year
• 4 characters $50/year, after a 20% discount to $40/year
• 5 characters and more $5/year, no discount
