Codenamed “WenMoon”, Manta Network today publicly announces its first space expedition project to build a privacy-preserving photon shield surrounding all eight planets (and Pluto) in the solar system.

“We’re a plug-and-play privacy protocol,” stated Kenny Li, cofounder of Manta Network. “So it’s was a straightforward and natural transition for us as we looked for our next use case: building intergalactic privacy structures around planets.”

“For centuries, astronomers have been surveilling planetary activity,” said Billy McDoge, Director of Extraplanetary Privacy at Manta Network. “But we’ve never stopped to ask the planets if they want to be monitored in the first place. It’s time we respect their privacy.”

WenMoon will launch a series of satellites around each planet in a gridlock pattern. Those satellites have special-purpose light refraction technology, that is designed to deflect light waves across the satellites. The deflection will result in what appears to be empty space to the observer. All of the deflection will be powered by zero-knowledge proofs, to verify that the planets do, indeed, exist, but their exact location will be unobservable by Earth telescopes and other surveillance mechanisms.

Susan Dot, the chief engineer responsible for designing the refraction technology, explains that the tool functions differently depending on whether light coming in as a wave or a particle. In wave form, the light will be refracted to various satellites within grid-lock system until it reaches the point furthest away from the sun, where it will be then be released back into space. In particle form, the satellites will collect the photons and redistribute them to other satellites within the grid to create a sustainable energy source for the devices.

Satellites to Pluto are set to launch in Q4 2021, after Manta Network’s main net launch. McDoge and his team plans to travel with the first set of satellites through cryogenically-induced slumber. The satellites themselves will be shielded using similar light-refraction technology, to protect the privacy of the satellites and the WenMoon expedition team.

About Manta Network:

Manta Network is the plug-and-play privacy-preservation protocol built to service the entire DeFi stack. Built on Substrate to leverage interoperability and zkSNARKs to leverage scalable privacy, Manta Network offers a suite of products and services that enable privacy for blockchain projects. As part of its own suite of products, Manta Network offers private payment and a private decentralized exchange, MantaSwap. Manta’s founding team comprises many US cryptocurrency veterans, professors, and scholars whose experience include Harvard, MIT, and Algorand. Manta has previously closed a $1.1m seed round led by Polychain.
