Manta Network to Enable On-chain Private Identity in Arbitrum Ecosystem
Manta Network is proud to support Arbitrum to roll out a series of Private Soul Bound Tokens (zkSBTs) to provide private on-chain identity verification for Arbitrum users and its ecosystem. This offers users a decentralized, trustless, and private way to verify their real identities without compromising any information or data leakage about their on-chain activity. Through the new zkSBT offerings launching starting today on Manta Network’s NPO, Arbitrum users will be able to privately verify various aspects of their on-chain identity without revealing any additional information. Throughout the week, users will have access to various zkSBTs designed for verification of Arbitrum ecosystem supporters and users:
- Today, on May 9, 2023, Arbitrum users will be able to mint the ARB Early Supporter zkPass, which is a private verifiable proof of participation as an early supporter within the Arbitrum ecosystem (prior to token launch). Anyone who received tokens in the Arbitrum airdrop qualifies to mint an ARB Early Supporter zkPass.
- On Thursday, May 11, 2023, Arbitrum users will be able to mint a zkSBT from one of Manta Network’s ecosystem projects, ReadOn.
- Furthermore, with this enablement of Arbitrum identity, future zkSBTs for the Arbitrum ecosystem can be released as well in conjunction with other Manta ecosystem activities and projects with Arbitrum.
All three zkSBT mints will be available indefinitely; i.e., users can mint their zkSBT at any time by verifying their credentials through an Arbitrum-supported wallet and minting/storing the zkSBT on the Manta Wallet. More details about each of the zkSBTs will be available shortly.
The Existing On-Chain Identity Problem
With the current state of public blockchains, every on-chain action is recorded, immutable, and fully transparent. While this transparency was originally necessary to provide trustless verifiability, it created many issues around surveillance, non-consenting data access, and, ultimately, an infringement on user safety and security when performing actions on-chain. Fortunately, Manta Network’s implementation of zero-knowledge proofs enables the same on-chain trustless verifiability without the necessity of full on-chain transparency. As a result, users are able to benefit from a seamless, modular privacy experience.
Manta Network’s research into zero-knowledge proof circuits has been implemented into one of its flagship platforms, the NPO, allowing users to mint zkSBTs. zkSBTs are on-chain, verifiable credentials that offer a trustless layer of privacy. Combined with proof keys, users can verify their ownership of zkSBTs without even connecting a wallet, enabling a seamless and modular privacy experience when interacting with applications.
Minting your Arbitrum zkSBTs
To mint your Arbitrum zkSBTs, you’ll need:
- An Arbitrum-compatible wallet that you hold your Arbitrum assets in, such as MetaMask;
- The correct credentials to verify your eligibility for minting a corresponding zkSBT;
- The Manta Wallet to hold your minted zkSBT.
About Manta Network
Manta Network is the zk layer 1 blockchain with the fastest prover speed and most decentralized trusted setup that brings programmable privacy to web3. Its suite of core products and technologies, including zkNFTs and MantaPay, offers user-friendly access to powerful ZK-enabled use cases.
The project is created by a team of experienced founders from prestigious institutions, including Harvard, MIT, and Algorand. The team began its research on Zero Knowledge Proof in 2019 during a cross-border payment research project under the MIT Digital Currency Initiative with the Monetary Authority of Singapore. Manta Network has received investments from many of the top web3 investment funds, including Binance Labs and Polychain Capital. It has grown through participation in the best web3 accelerators, including Alliance DAO and Berkeley Blockchain Xcelerator. Manta Network is poised to bring the next generation of web3 users and usher in a new chapter of privacy-focused web3 applications.
