Manta Pacific Mainnet Alpha Launch
On July 19th, 2023, Manta Network launched the Manta Pacific Testnet. Manta Pacific is the first EVM-native modular execution layer that will leverage modular DA through Celestia and ZK-as-a-Service through Manta’s Universal Circuits. Over the past two months since launch, we have witnessed tremendous growth of interest and activity on the chain.
With a cumulative 4 million transactions across testnet activities and 200,000 wallet addresses activated on Manta Pacific, we are humbled by the amount of community involvement and feedback in getting Manta Pacific to mainnet.
Apart from the amazing, global user community, Manta Pacific has also onboarded amazing partners to grow alongside, such as Celer and Polyhedra for bridging, iZUMi and DODO for DeFi, and zkHoldem for on-chain gaming. In fact, over 251 were deployed on Manta Pacific testnet, from projects and developers worldwide. You can see all of the stats on Manta Pacific testnet on our Pacific Testnet Explorer.
Now we are excited to take the next step with all of our community and partners. Manta Pacific is officially launching its Mainnet Alpha.
What to Expect with Mainnet Alpha
Manta Pacific’s Mainnet Alpha launch marks the first step in operationalizing the network. In this phase, we are getting the network up and running. Simultaneously, many of the 250 smart contracts deployed on our testnet are in the process of migrating over to the mainnet.
Upon the completion of onboarding many of the exciting projects in the ecosystem, we will begin part 2 of Mainnet Alpha, which welcomes and encourages community members from all over the world to participate in some of our on-chain activities. This celebration will last over a month and give everyone plenty of opportunity to contribute to the ultimate success of Manta Pacific. Alongside our community, developers, and partners, we are confident to see Manta Pacific grow to become one of the largest ecosystems in Web3.
During Mainnet Alpha, Manta Pacific will leverage Ethereum for data availability (DA). Upon Celestia’s mainnet launch, Manta Pacific will shift to take advantage of modular DA through Celestia. More information about this shift along with other exciting news about Manta Pacific’s upcoming roadmap will be published soon.
What Makes Manta Pacific Different
Manta Pacific is the first-of-its-kind EVM-native modular execution layer specifically designed for ZK adoption and use cases, which leverages Celestia for data availability. It provides ZK-as-a-Service universal circuits and SDKs that have plug-and-play functionality for developers. In essence, Manta Pacific empowers both developers and users alike by giving them accessibility to engage in a truly inclusive zk-enabled ecosystem.
Manta Pacific is an EVM layer-2 solution built on top of the Ethereum ecosystem and using Celestia for data availability. Manta Pacific differentiates from existing approaches by offering native composability for zk applications using universal circuits, which enables new ZK use cases and an ecosystem to support their growth.
Today, there exists no home for EVM-native ZK applications. We believe that ZK applications are the next generation of decentralized apps because of the strong attention to user safety and privacy that it delivers in an otherwise normal dapp experience; thus, creating the perfect environment for ZK applications to exist is critical for the continuing growth and expansion of web3.
Current solutions do not fully address the needs of ZK applications to deploy and grow users in a scalable manner. Privacy networks that offer ZK-based private transacting don’t provide programmability for an application layer. General VM, EVM blockchains and zkEVM don’t provide the tooling to easily build and deploy ZK applications; if you manage to deploy one, your users will be burdened with high gas costs and slow performance. ZK networks that provide VM environments require developers to pick up new languages that lock those applications into specific ecosystems with limited userbases. Notable features of Manta Pacific include:
- Manta Pacific offers programmable ZK as an EVM-native L2
- Manta’s Universal Circuits enable easy ZK application development using only Solidity
- Eventually leveraging Celestia for data availability and the OP Stack for scalability, Manta Pacific provides high scalability and low transaction fees for ZK applications
Manta Pacific takes all of the work that the Manta team has already built on ZK, and applies it directly into a scalable EVM environment specifically designed for deploying ZK applications.
Deploying a ZK-enabled application is very easy when leveraging Manta Pacific’s Universal Circuits. You can browse through the documentation for one of our first circuits, zkShuffle Alpha.
